Yes, as board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs), we are licensed to prescribe medications. We carefully evaluate each patient to determine the most appropriate medication regimen to address their specific mental health needs.

While our primary focus at The Brain Bliss is on prescribing medications and managing psychiatric conditions through evidence-based treatments, brief medical psychotherapy is integrated into every session. If more extensive therapy is needed, we can provide referrals to trusted therapists and counselors.

Yes, telehealth visits are available for established patients. First appointments must be scheduled in person, however, for those who prefer to receive care from home we are happy to accommodate your preferences. Please contact our office to schedule a telehealth appointment and receive instructions on how to connect.

Your first appointment involves a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and will last about one hour. We will ask many questions to understand your symptoms, health history, previous treatments, and goals. Please complete the pre-appointment paperwork. Medication may be prescribed if appropriate, and we might also provide additional referrals to optimize your treatment success.

If your symptoms are lasting, persistent, and present most of the time for more than two weeks, you may benefit from medications. Common human emotions typically come and go and are manageable, but persistent symptoms may require medical intervention.

Follow-up appointments are more frequent early in treatment to ensure your plan is providing symptom relief. As your symptoms stabilize, follow-ups will extend to every other month, quarterly, every six months, or as needed. Follow-ups will be more frequent when controlled substances are prescribed.

If you experience any side effects, please contact our office immediately. We will work with you to adjust your medication or find an alternative that minimizes side effects while effectively managing your symptoms.

After confirming your insurance coverage and understanding your financial responsibilities, you can book your first appointment through our website. We ask that you schedule follow-up appointments before leaving the office after each session. Online booking is also available for changing appointments or scheduling sooner visits.

We accept most major insurance plans. Please contact our office to verify your insurance coverage and discuss any potential out-of-pocket costs.

Please inform your provider of all your medication refill needs at your appointment. If you need a refill between appointments, you may email your provider.

To prepare for your first appointment at The Brain Bliss, it’s essential to complete any pre-appointment paperwork. Additionally, bring a list of any current medications, previous medical records, and your symptoms or concerns. Jotting down any questions you have for your provider can also be helpful.
